Day 42
This weekend, I moderated a doctor's panel in Carmel, Indiana. I left just after 3pm on Friday and didn't return until 6:30pm on Saturday. This weekend was also the weekend our church family decided to go camping. For the first time in years I would miss a camp out with my boys. That's like missing the the wedding of your best friend...like, missing the season finale of Dancing With the Stars...wait...I don't watch that t.v...like missing the first day of hunting season...I don't hunt either, but I hear that would be AWFUL!
In the past, I would take the boys camping. That's a man's job anyway, isn't it? And, my wife would stay at home and do what mom's do when no one else is around (whatever that is--yeah, I know I've been a stay-at-home-dad for a while, but I still don't know what mom's do after everything else is finished because I NEVER SEEM TO GET EVERYTHING FINISHED!!!).
In Carmel, Indiana, I found myself enjoying being where I was, but, secretly, inside, missing being with my kids and wondering how in the world my wife was faring with the boys out in the woods, at night...with the bugs.
Turns out, everyone enjoyed the camp out and my wife had the opportunity to bond with her boys in a way she had never before...HAVING 'MAN TIME' CAMPING WITH THE BOYS.
