'Tis the Season...

Day 126

'Tis the season...

Well, we've discovered another cooking miracle in our home this past week. In the process of preparing for the holidays we DO actually make AND EAT unhealthy snacks (I know, I know...but all things in moderation).

We have experimented with sugar cookies, ginger bread men, ginger bread houses and ginger bread Christmas trees. We have melted chocolate and drizzled it on pretzels, cereal squares and candy-coated chocolates for our version of 'puppy chow'.

And, we experimented with, instead of peanut brittle, Pumpkin Seed Brittle. Now, for those who haven't had my mother-in-laws, don't knock it! It's quite tasty with a hint of cayenne pepper to compliment the sweet.

Well, we have learned there is quite a smell when you burn sugar...3 cups of it...

Then, when you put it outside so that it doesn't keep smelling up the house, and then forget about it, and then remember it many hours later...well...

Let's just say the pan depth is reduced by about 2 inches of solid burnt sugar that doesn't take well to coming out of that pan!
