Day 176
So, I'm elbow deep in trying to fix dinner, not just for my family but also for another family. I have 2 pans on the stove, one steaming broccoli, the other boiling water for pasta. I have a 5 year old child asking me a dozen questions, all requiring multiple word answers, a 9 year old who keeps asking if he can play the XBox, a wife who is not at home during the time I'm preparing dinner, and all of a sudden, there's a cry behind me.
I turn around and find my 18 month old pulling at his head/eye and screaming.
Looking around, I find that my 18 month old attempted to help with dinner by handing me the oil cruise...the only problem...he handed it to me upside down.
Do you know how long it takes to clean up oil spilled on a kitchen floor?!
Do you know how long it takes to get oil out of hair?!
A few minutes under the tap to rinse oil out of his eye (you can tell his right eye is a little 'less open' than his left) and everything was back to normal.
Meanwhile, the broccoli was steamed beyond taste and texture. I'm just glad I hadn't added the pasta yet or it would have boiled over.
I love being in the kitchen...I love being in the kitchen...I love being in the kitchen...
