My children helped me by folding laundry today...
It doesn't really look like it...
For all the times they have seen the clothing I've folded, or their mother has folded, they have NEVER seen it spread out quite like this, and certainly not with a sword. But that aside, I think they thought everything should be folded and stacked in twos...two shirts, two pants, etc., etc., etc.
I am glad, however, they felt compelled to help. AND, I am grateful my children CAN fold clothes (you wouldn't know it by looking in their rooms, though). AND, I am grateful my children VALUE time (for, said they, 'No, dad. You go rest. We'll fold the clothes."
It was when they finished that I understood their motivation.
"Dad," said with smooth and well-thought wording, "Since we folded all those clothes, by ourselves, can we play the XBox?"
Hmmmmmmmm. Coordinated attack from a 5 and a 9 year old.
"Sure." They deserved it.
