I only fell asleep for a few minutes..

So, my morning began super early. I've discovered the only time I will EVER get a good workout in is if I go at 5:00 am and then get home and do some work on my business before the kids wake up.

That all sounds good, but the real problem hits at about 11:00am when I'm usually watching our 23 month old, sometimes alone. But, that is also usually right about time for lunch and then a nap. That way, if I need a quick nap, it's not a problem...usually.

Today, we ran an early errand together. Unfortunately, he took a VERY early nap. 10 am naps RUIN MY AFTERNOON. I decided to do some of my afternoon work while he slept. So, from 10am to about 11, he napped wonderfully. Then, suddenly he awoke and was READY TO ROLL.

So, he and I finished a project for mommy's Christmas. Then, we played for a bit on the pool table (he loves to roll the balls and bang them into each other). After that, we came upstairs to eat a little snack and then read a book with LOTS of animal pictures. And THAT, my friends, is where I failed miserably. I'm not sure where in that story I fell asleep, but it happened.

At some point, I remember my son making an animal sound or two, and pointing to animals in the book, but that's all I remember, until I heard something like tearing paper.  That sound, pulled me to consciousness. That's when I found this:

For the record, he was perfectly safe, except you'll notice the chair in the background. Yeah, at some point he pushed the chair over to the counter, climbed on the counter and got the advent calendar down (which is EXACTLY how his next older brother does it), and then began helping himself to the treasures which lie behind the magic doors. His brothers will all split the remaining 3 chocolates that he didn't find.

Oh, and the Cheerios! You see just a couple. Well, I was smarter this time. I didn't leave the box on the table this time. But there was a pile from our Elf who found his way into the Cheerios box the night before. Well, those had been karate chopped and thrown all over the kitchen. Yes, I know. Some day I'll figure out this Stay At-Home-thing.

#ParentFail for sure. I only fell asleep for a few minutes...
